26 Chait, Kathmandu. Nominations for the post of Deputy Speaker are being registered.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the nomination registration time is from 11 am to 2 pm. The list of successful candidates will be published today at 2.30 pm.

Elections will be held tomorrow, Friday.

Dol Prasad Aryal has already been elected as Speaker of RSVP. Now the matter of who will be the Deputy Speaker also depends on which party the RSVP is from.

According to the constitution, Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be from different parties and different genders. Article 91 of the Constitution provides for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

“During the election, one of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives should be a woman, and the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives should be representatives of different parties,” Article 91, Clause 2 of the Constitution states.

Dolprasad Aryal of RSVP has been elected as the Speaker. He is male. Now there should be a woman and a deputy speaker from a different party.

There are 6 parties in the House of Representatives including RSVP.

In the 275-member House of Representatives, there are only 182 MPs of the RSP. Nepali Congress 38, CPN-UML 25, Nepali Communist Party 17, Labor Culture Party 7, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) 5 MPs.
