A poll conducted in the US shows that the majority of citizens are in favor of ending the ongoing war with Iran as soon as possible.

According to a poll conducted jointly by the American polling company Ipsos and the international news organization Reuters, two-thirds of American citizens say that the war should end regardless of whether President Donald Trump’s goals have been met or not.

27 percent said the war should continue until the goal is met, and 6 percent did not respond, according to Reuters.

The poll also showed a split among incumbent Republican supporters.

Among Trump supporters, 40 percent said the war should end even if the goal remains unfulfilled, while 57 percent favored long-term engagement.

The war, which has been going on for a month, has affected the entire Middle East region and has claimed thousands of lives and has also created pressure on the world economy.

A sharp rise in energy prices has added to concerns about rising inflation.

Sixty percent of those polled disagreed with the US military attack on Iran, while only 35 percent supported it.

As a result of the war, the price of gasoline in the United States has crossed the highest level in three years and exceeded 4 dollars per gallon.

Two-thirds of those surveyed expect fuel prices to rise further within a year. Even 40 percent of Republican voters predicted price increases.

More than half of those polled said the war would have a negative impact on their personal finances, including 39 percent of Republicans.

It is seen that this referendum will create more political pressure on the Trump administration before the mid-term elections in November.

According to Reuters, 1 thousand 21 people participated in the survey.
