19 Chait, Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has claimed that the Genji movement that took place on August 23 and 24 was not only for indigenous reasons. Speaking at the launch of Kamal Koirala’s memorial book on Thursday, Leader Koirala said that there are many reasons why the movement was not ‘organic’.
‘The rise of RSVP in the current politics is due to some reasons. It may be due to our shortcomings, I won’t say no. We also had our weaknesses’, leader Koirala said, ‘but there is a need to address the world’s political situation as well.’
He also raised questions about the Genji movement. Our friends say that it was an organic movement. It was not a movement, it was a rebellion. Rebellion or not? But I am not in favor of accepting it,’ he said.
He claimed further and said, ‘There is a lot of evidence that it is in-organic.’
However, he said that he would not say that there were no mistakes or weaknesses on the part of Congress and UML. “Many big mistakes have been made,” he said.
Expressing the same doubts, leader Koirala also pointed out that there is a ‘different type’ of conflict between Congress and UML. ‘Now our friends who should look after other people are going against their own party leader. It is also seen within the Congress and the UML,’ said leader Koirala.
