19 Chait, Kathmandu. Two middlemen were caught from the traffic management office at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-5 Radheradhe in Bhaktapur on Tuesday.

29-year-old Yamkumari Shrestha of Jugal Rural Municipality-3 of Sindhupalchok and 30-year-old Sunil Thapa of Kalika Municipality-6 of Chitwan were arrested. They were arrested by the police team deployed from Thimi police circle.

They have been arrested on the charge of unnecessarily harassing the customers and affecting the delivery of public services.

Transport middlemen have been accused of causing unnecessary pain and harassment to the service users in the services provided by the transport office like license distribution, renewal, blue book renewal, vehicle registration book and taking money under the pretext of working through fast track.

Ishwar Karki, Head of Valley Police Office Ranipokhari in Kathmandu, says that a campaign was started to bring those who give unnecessary pain and harassment to the legal sphere after receiving complaints about middlemen. ‘No one is exempted from doing activities that are against the law. AIG Karki says that the police will bring those who obstruct the work and cause unnecessary pain and harassment to legal action.

At the same time as two people were arrested in Bhaktapur, 15 middlemen were also caught in Kathmandu. Police Circle Swambhu arrested 7 middlemen on Tuesday alone.

Circle Swambhu arrested 7 middlemen from the transport office located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 Sano Bhryang.

36-year-old Bal Bahadur Sunar of Rautahat, 39-year-old Vigyan Rai of Umakunda Rural Municipality-4 of Ramechhap, 31-year-old Sanjay Rajavahka of Kathmandu Tarakeshwar, 36-year-old Bimal Tamang of Kathmandu Ranivan, 35-year-old Ramesh Karki of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-7 of Ramechhap, 36-year-old Kalpana Lamsal of Nilkanth Municipality-5 of Dhading and 39-year-old of Belkotgarhi Municipality-12 of Nuwakot. Uddhav Khanal was arrested.

SSP Ramesh Thapa of District Police Complex Kathmandu said that 53 bills and 1 lakh 22 thousand rupees were seized from them. It is alleged that they are harassing the customers and disrupting public service by saying that they will renew the bill book.

At present, the Kathmandu campus and subordinate offices have launched a campaign to control middlemen. Just like Swayambhu Circle, Thankot police circle arrested 8 middlemen on Tuesday alone.

In which 25-year-old Pasang Tamang of Kathmandu Kuleshwar, 30-year-old Sunil Lama of Temal Rural Municipality-8 of Kavre, 23-year-old Sudeep Magar of Kathmandu Chandragiri Municipality-6, 20-year-old Buddha Tamang of Thackre Rural Municipality-4 of Dhading were caught.

Similarly, 26-year-old Sumesh Nepali of Thaha Municipality-9 of Makwanpur, 24-year-old Aman Tamang of Thackre Rural Municipality-4, 18-year-old Ujjwal Singh of Telkot Rural Municipality-4 of Bajhang and 26-year-old Dilip Rai of Kerabari Rural Municipality-5 of Morang were arrested.

Previous to this, the team of District Police Complex Lalitpur and Police Circle Satdobato also arrested 15 middlemen from the traffic management office at Ekantakuna. Gautam Mishra, SP of Lalitpur, said that four of the arrested persons have died.

Along with this, 32 middlemen were arrested from four traffic offices in the valley in two days. The police have taken them into custody and are investigating.

Complaints are often received in offices such as the Transport Office, the Foreign Employment Department, the Passport Department, about the problems of middlemen. Earlier, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has been repeatedly arresting middlemen from the Passport Department.

Now, with the complaints of the middlemen harassing the consumers, the police have arrested the middlemen from the public prosecutor’s office.
