Kathmandu. The general meeting and election have been postponed due to the internal dispute of the Film Artists Association. The default election was stopped on 28 March.

The election process itself was disrupted due to a sharp disagreement among the officials of the association regarding the issue of membership renewal.

According to the statement signed by President Mohan Niraula, it is said that due to special reasons, all election programs had to be stopped. This situation has arisen mainly because they could not provide the certified voter list to the election committee within the statutory time limit.

The election committee said that the working committee of the association could not submit the voter list even after repeated requests, and the committee sent correspondence and said that the process could not be carried forward.

The crux of the dispute is the renewal of old members and the validity of new members. Within the working committee of the association, two sides are seen regarding which members should be given voting rights and whose renewal is in accordance with the rules.

Sources claim that the voter list could not be finalized due to this dispute. Now the association has not revealed anything about when the new date will be set.

According to President Niraula, there are currently 2,500 members in the association who have not yet renewed. Among them, many have fled the profession. Uttam KC and Savin Shrestha announced the panel and went to the polls.
