25 March, Kathmandu. The Navy Association has drawn the attention of the relevant authorities, demanding an investigation into the condition and corruption of the prisons.

The Nepal Students Union has submitted a letter of attention to the prison department. In which serious concern has been expressed about the alleged irregularities and economic exploitation of the prisoners in the prison, and they have demanded an investigation and action against the culprits.

In the memorandum submitted by the association to the prison department, it is mentioned that there has been negligence in the health treatment, hygiene and management of the inmates in the center jail and women’s jail under the Jagannathdeval jail. It has been alleged that mentally ill and sick prisoners do not get the necessary treatment and that money is charged unnecessarily for various services.

It is alleged that some employees and the officials of the prison administration have exploited the prisoners financially. Mentioning that the prisoners filed a complaint with audio-video evidence, it has been demanded to be investigated as an activity of a serious criminal nature.
