19 Chait, Jajarkot. An agreement has been reached regarding the connection of 124.35 megawatts of electricity produced by the Jagdulla ‘A’ hydropower project to the 400 KV transmission line.
The chief executive officer of the project, Sanjay Sapkota, informed that an agreement has been reached between Jagdulla Hydropower Company Limited and National Broadcasting Grid Company Limited for the extraction of 124.35 megawatts of electricity produced by the Jagdulla-A hydropower project.
The project will be constructed in Mudkechula Rural Municipality-4 Dolpa and Nalgad Municipality-13 area of Dolpa and Jajarkot. Initially, it was proposed to build the project with a capacity of 82.3 MW, but later the capacity of the project was increased to 124.35 MW, he informed.
The company is going to develop this project in the nature of picking run of the river. According to the company, so far the preparatory works including feasibility study and detailed engineering study have been completed before the construction of the project. The environmental study report is at the stage of approval. 25 billion debt is being managed.
NEA Engineering Company entered into an agreement with the company in December 2020 to conduct a detailed study. According to the company, work is being done to take the project to the construction stage from the next financial year 2083/084 after completing the detailed study report (DPR).
The water produced by the Jagdulla hydropower project will be diverted directly to a place called Damachur located in Nalgad Municipality-13 through a tunnel of 7 km.
It is planned to build a 132 KV transmission line and connect the electricity generated from the project to the substation of the 400 KV transmission line at Danipipal in Nalgad.
The goal is to produce commercial electricity from the project after completion of the construction within a total of 4 years.
400 KV transmission line will be constructed
A 400 kV transmission line will be constructed to connect the electricity within the Very Corridor to the central transmission line. The transmission line is going to be constructed in Bheriganga Municipality-8 Maintada of Surkhet and Nalgad Municipality-7 Dani People of Jajarkot.
Sagar Shrestha, chief executive officer of National Broadcasting Grid Company Limited, said that discussions are being held with the Ministry of Finance to build a transmission line with a length of about 75 km. At present, the land acquisition work in Maintada and Dani People has been completed. It is estimated that the transmission line will be built at around 8 billion.
Similarly, he informed that substations are going to be constructed at Dani Peepal and Maintada for 6 billion rupees.
The goal is to complete the substation construction work including Dani People within 4 years. The starting point will be at Nalgad substation Dani Peepal and the final point will be at Maintada substation in Surkhet.
Although the construction started from December 2023 and the target is to be completed by November 2027, the project has been delayed due to lack of financial management.
