19 Chait, Kathmandu. The Secondary Education Examination (SEE) has started from Thursday. As soon as the first day’s exam is over, the work of testing the answer book has also started.

According to the National Examination Board, on the first day, the English subject test was held from 8 am to 11 am. “As soon as the examination is over, the examination of the answer book has started,” said Tukraj Adhikari, controller of the examination, “Information has come that the examination has started in many places.”

5 lakh 12 thousand 421 students have filled the form for the exam. In which four lakh 41 thousand 566 people are going to take the exam for regular and 70 thousand 855 people for grade increase.

The number of female students in taking the exam is more. This year there are two lakh 57 thousand 613 female students, two lakh 54 thousand 801 male students and 7 others. There are 23 people taking the exam from one center in Japan. 1 thousand 966 centers have been established to conduct SEE.

How is the test?

According to the board, testing is being done under the leadership of the center president. “There is a security threat in some places. The test is conducted in a safe environment,’ said the controlling officer, ‘the subject of the exam can be tested in three days.’

A guide has also been issued from the conduct of the examination to the publication of the results. According to the guidelines, the board said that the work of examination and testing is going on.

‘Tests are conducted by qualified teachers. Students of their school cannot be tested by themselves. The teacher of one school will test the students of another school,’ said the official.

A roster of teachers who will test the answer sheets has been made in coordination with the Education Development Coordination Unit and the local municipality. On the same day as the examination is conducted, after the examination is over, the answer sheet of the examinee should be matched with the order of the symbol number and submitted to the examiner-examiner for examination.

During the examination, the answers of all the questions in each answer book have been checked/not, the checked answers have been marked/not, the marks given inside have been transferred outside/not, the addition of the marks transferred outside should be accepted.

The examiner-examiner must sign each answer book written in both numbers and letters, including the marks given inside with the total marks.

It is mentioned in the guidelines that if negligence is found in the examination of the answer sheet, the amount of negligence will be re-examined, the salary will be deducted or the name will be removed from the examiner’s list. If they do other unlimited work, departmental action will also be taken against such examiners according to prevailing laws.

The answer book of each subject should be completed within three days at most and the markslip should be submitted to the Education Development and Coordinating Unit.

The designated examiners should reach the examination center by the time the examination ends. If there is a lack of expert teachers to conduct the test, the head of the test center should manage the test in coordination with the education development and coordination unit- local level education branch.

In terms of subject teacher availability and security, the unit should make alternative arrangements to conduct the test on time for the examination of the answer sheets of places that are considered sensitive.

After examination of the answer sheet, the score of the examinee must be submitted to the relevant unit in a confidential and secure manner through the email of the head of the relevant unit-Centre and the mark slip provided by the Examination Control Office must be sealed and submitted within three days after the completion of the examination of the subject.

In case of examiner, the examiner should be a secondary level teacher who has examined the answer sheet of the relevant subject. The education development and coordination unit should send the marked slips from the examination center to the examination control office mentioning the center and subject code in a sealed envelope.

The results are ready to be published within 1 month after the examination. As far as possible, the results will be published state-wise if not all at once. It is said that the results can be published on a state-wise basis in the directory.

‘If the details of all provinces come at once, the results will be published at once. If not, the results can be announced on a provincial basis on the basis of whichever comes first,’ said the controller officer.

Earlier, it used to take 2-3 months for the results to be announced. Secretly taking the answer sheet of one province to another province, the result was delayed in publishing.

The results are going to be published within 1 month to avoid unnecessary stress on the students. But after the announcement of the results, no decision has been taken whether the 11th class teaching will be held immediately or not.

‘According to the calendar of the academic session, there used to be a two-three month holiday after the end of the SEE examination. If classes are to be conducted immediately, the academic session will also have to be postponed. No decision has been made on this yet. Probably, there will be no classes until the academic session starts after the results are announced,’ said Jung Bahadur Aryal, member secretary of the National Examination Board.
