18 Chait, Kathmandu. 2 people have been arrested on the charge of extorting money for the release of those arrested during the Genji movement.

Those arrested are 45-year-old Hari Bahadur Thapamagar and 37-year-old Mithu Magar alias Anita Thapamagar of Mandikhatar in Budhanilkanth Municipality.

They are accused of taking money for the release of three defendants who are incarcerated in Sundhara prison for their involvement in criminal activities during the demonstration on 23rd and 24th of August.

According to the police, they tricked a judge of their acquaintance in the Supreme Court with Rs 9 lakh saying that they would release him on bail.
