26 Chait, Siraha. An arrest warrant has been issued against Naveen Kumar Yadav, Mayor of Sirha Municipality. An arrest warrant has been issued against Mayor Yadav on the charge of assault and indecent behavior on employees.

On March 23, it is alleged that Mayor Yadav used a stick and punched the 50-year-old office assistant Ramsharan Yadav while he was attending the hearing.

After the incident, the victim filed a police complaint against Mayor Yadav. The employees are protesting after the incident. The entire functioning of the municipality is affected.

Based on the complaint, District Police Office Sirha registered a case related to indecent behavior and sought an arrest warrant from the District Court on Thursday. The court has issued an arrest warrant.

District Police Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Vasudev Pathak confirmed that the arrest warrant was obtained from the court.

The office assistant Yadav’s three chest bones were broken due to the beating, the police said. It is understood that he has returned home after receiving treatment from a neuro hospital in Biratnagar.

The police said that Mayor Yadav is currently out of touch and the search for him is ongoing. ‘He is not here, we are looking for him,’ SP Pathak said.

After the incident, the employees of the municipality, who became angry, have been staging a dharna in the office since the same day, due to which the service delivery of the office has been completely stopped.

The agitating employees are demanding free treatment for the victims, proper compensation, strict legal action against the city head and ensuring a safe environment where the employees can work with self-respect.
