17 Chait, Kathmandu. Tribhuvan Army Club and KVC Hounds won the Himalayan Javanese National Basketball League (HJNBL) 2026 on Tuesday.

Army defeated Kirtipur 96-79 in the match at Dasharath Stadium Covered Hall in Tripureshwar on Tuesday. Army’s lead in the first two quarters became the basis of victory.

Army won the first quarter 31-16 and the second quarter 27-13 in their favor and took a 58-29 lead until half time. The third quarter ended with a tie of 23-23, while in the fourth quarter Kirtipur won 27-15 in their favor but could not prevent the Army from winning.

Lucky Maharjan of Kirtipur alone scored 43 points in this match. He also became the player who scored the most points in a single game. Lucky Maharjan was declared the player of the match.
Simeon Gurung of the winning team Army scored the highest 20 points.

This is Army’s 10th win in 11 matches. Army has climbed to second place with 21 points from 11 games. Goldengate, Army and Times have 21 points after 11 games. But Goldengate is at the top in point difference.

This is Kirtipur’s ninth defeat. Kirtipur is in fifth place with 13 points from 11 games. Similarly, in the first match on Tuesday, KVC Hounds defeated Roel by a wide margin of 100-69.

The Hounds came back from a 28-23 deficit in the first quarter and then had three quarters in their favor. The Hounds won the game by winning the second quarter 20-8, the third quarter 28-19 and the fourth quarter 29-13.

This is the eighth consecutive win for the Hounds. After losing the opening three games, the Hounds have won consecutive games. The Hounds are in fourth place with 19 points from 11 games. This is Roel’s tenth loss in 11 games.

Tomar Harshvardhan of Hounds was declared Man of the Match. Vijay Burja of Hounds scored the highest 20 points.

8 teams are competing in the second edition of HJNBL organized by Nepal Basketball Association (NEBA).

There will be a total of 56 matches in the league based on double round robin. After the league stage, the top four teams will enter the playoffs. Under the playoffs, the first qualifier will be played between the first and second teams in the league, while the eliminator match will be played between the third and fourth teams in the league.

The second qualifier will be between the defeated team in the first qualifier and the winning team in the eliminator. The final match will be played between the winners of the first and second qualifiers.

The winner of the competition will receive 4 lakh in cash, the runner-up will get 2 lakh and the third runner-up will get 1 lakh.

According to NEBA, the most valuable player (MVP) will also receive an attractive prize for performing well throughout the tournament.
