Kathmandu. After the Nepali film ‘Elephants in the Fog (Them)’ was selected for the world-famous Cannes Film Festival, the Nepali film industry is excited at the moment. According to the list released by the festival on Thursday, this film by director Avinashvikram Shah has been included in the ‘On Certain Regard’ category.

After being selected in one of the main categories of Cannes for the first time, the producer and director are being congratulated. To share this happiness, the producer organized a special dinner event in the capital on Thursday evening.

Various famous faces of Nepali and Bollywood film industry participated in the event. From actress Manisha Koirala to Pravesh Gurung, who has accumulated experience as an assistant director in Dharma Productions, the presence was seen. Other Nepali filmmakers and filmmakers also participated in the program.

On this occasion, actress Koirala expressed her happiness through social media. She wrote:

“What an unforgettable evening m! Thank you Kumudani and Pravesh Gurung, Nepal for organizing such a beautiful event on the occasion of their debut at the Cannes Film Festival in the ‘On Certain Regard’ category. I saw the new generation of artists who met there breaking boundaries with their creations. The entire team of ‘Them (Elephants in the Fog)’ deserves praise. This film is an example of the power of creative storytelling. Meaningful dialogue and new Thank you for the connections. Thank you again for the excellent hospitality.’

Director Shah’s previous short film ‘Lori’ received a Special Mention at Cannes. This year’s Cannes is being held in France from May 12 to 23.
