On October 22, Extremist Group of Nepal (EGN) wrote a letter on the letterpad and sent the letter to the Authority by email, threatening to kill Rai if he did not resign as the head of the Authority within 10 days.

In addition to this, a person named Prakash Pathak threatened Rai to resign as the head of the authority through a video. Pathak, who claimed to be the chairman of EGN, made threats through the video, and when the police investigated, it was revealed that he was in the Philippines.

After issuing a red notice through Interpol, Pathak was arrested on January 28 and brought to Kathmandu. He is now in the custody of District Police Complex Kathmandu. While investigating him, it was revealed that the then Director General of CAN (currently suspended) Pradeep Adhikari was the main planner of the assassination threat.

When the authorities were also involved in the threat to kill Pathak during the investigation, now investigations are being conducted against them for criminal gain, organized crime, killing industry, money laundering and other issues.
