19 Chait, Kathmandu. CPN-UML has also demanded the immediate release of Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar in the National Assembly meeting.

UML MP Prem Kumar Dangal alleged that the first decision of the newly formed government was vindictive.

Congratulating Balendra Shah who became the Prime Minister after getting the majority in the elections held on February 21, he made it clear that he would support or oppose the work of the government based on its merits and demerits.

MP Dangal questioned the intention of the government saying that former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar were arrested in the middle of the night ‘as if they were terrorists’.

He also demanded that the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission formed regarding the loss of property during the demonstration on August 23 and 24 should be dismissed as ‘based on myth and prejudice’.

The CPN-UML demanded immediate unconditional release of president KP Sharma Oli and leader Ramesh Akhtar, immediate cancellation of the report of the biased Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, withdrawal of the decision of the Council of Ministers on Chait 13th, formation of an independent and impartial high-level judicial inquiry commission under the leadership of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, and investigation and action against the chairman and members of the commission who brought the wrong report.

“It is a cruel and criminal attitude to arrest a person who has undergone two kidney transplants and has an old age body before the end of his father’s work,” he said.

MP Dangal protested against the repressive policy of the government and also condemned the police intervention on UML workers across the country and the attack on the party office in Surkhet.
