19 Chait, Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Bhishmaraj Angdembe has said that the disappointment that nothing has happened in the country in the past 35 years is not true.

Addressing the meeting of the first session of the newly formed House of Representatives, he said this while recalling the past 35 years with examples.

“The disappointment that nothing happened is not based on the truth,” Angdembe said, “We have resolved to explain what happened to the citizens and complete the many tasks that remain to be done.”

He emphasized that the Parliament should take the citizens into faith and proceed on that journey. Angdembe recalled the burning of the parliament building during the Janeji movement and said that in the future, no one should step forward to turn the country into ashes.

‘Today, where we are sitting in this meeting, this is not our parliament building. Our parliament building was reduced to ashes on August 24,’ he said, ‘Let us remember those ashes at this time, and let us resolve to work in this way so that no one steps forward to turn this country into ashes in the future.’

Angdembe also insisted that both the incidents of 23 and 24 August are necessary. Why was the Parliament building turned into ashes? Why did the palace burn? Why were so many physical structures destroyed?’, he said, ‘I want to draw the attention of the Speaker, Mr. Government, it is necessary to deal with the events of both the 23rd and 24th of August one by one.’

Angdembe said that both the trend of seeing the incident of 23rd but not seeing the 24th and seeing the destruction of the 24th and suppressing the 23rd is wrong.

“The commission of inquiry formed by the government investigated the incident on the 23rd and recommended action,” he said, “but the investigation on the incident on the 24th was not carried out.” What method is this? It does not seem to be possible to say that this act of repeatedly adding time, but not enough time, was not done intentionally by the people in the investigation commission.’

Angdembe also requested the Prime Minister Walen Shah to make public the report of the commission of inquiry. He also reminded that the Congress has been carrying the belief that no one guilty should escape and no innocent should be trapped.

I would like to draw the attention of the new Prime Minister, will the government itself publish the report of the inquiry commission or will the government also read it in Gorkhapatra? I would like to request that the government present itself in a reasonable manner with the dignity of law and procedure,’ he said, ‘Congress has been carrying the belief that no one guilty escapes, no innocent is trapped since the past. We are clear and firm in this belief even today.’
