Kathmandu. Nepali folk rock band ‘Nepathya’ is going to give a series of musical performances in Canada. There are going to be concerts in the cities of Sudbury, Toronto and London (Ontario).

The first performance will be held on Friday, April 10 at the ‘Sudbury Community Arena’ in the city of Sudbury. On Monday, April 13, the band will perform at the Queen Elizabeth Theater in Toronto.

Located in the exhibition center in the western part of the main city, this hall is famous as a modern concert venue. The last show of the tour will be in London on Saturday, April 18. On that day, the ‘London Music Hall’ will be resounding.

Tickets for the concert to be held in Toronto are sold out, while tickets for other cities are also selling fast.

Three years ago, the band gave a series of performances in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. In this ‘Nepathya Yatra’, all three Canadian cities are in the state of Ontario, which is connected to the northeastern part of the United States. There is a significant presence of Nepalese in this area, which is also close to the main economic center, Toronto.

For some time now, Canada has become an attractive immigration destination for Nepalis. In that too, there has been a qualitative increase day by day in Nepali students going there especially for studies.

Along with the growing Nepalese population, the attention of the state has also started to be attracted towards their respectable presence. Only a few weeks ago, Councilor Nithan San proposed to the Mayor of Toronto to celebrate every April 10-17 as ‘Nepali Heritage Week’.

This proposal, initiated by ‘Naples Canadian Community Services’, is currently under consideration. After the proposal is approved, the metropolis itself will proceed with it as its program. It is proposed to be based on the Nepali New Year period, and the time to present Nepathya in this section has also increased this time.

‘Nepathya is about to come to our city for the first time,’ Kanuka Basnet of Sudbury said in her Facebook post, ‘I am sure it will be a memorable evening full of music, energy and memories.’

Doors will open at 7pm local time for the upcoming concert in all three Canadian cities.

“Breaking the tradition of Nepali presenters visiting Canada when they go to America, Nepathya made a series of trips focused on that country for the first time three years ago,” says Kiran Krishna Shrestha from Nepal, who is handling the management of Nepathya.

A team of 14 people including 6 artists and 8 technicians and managers is leaving for Canada on April 4 for the concert. This team will stay there till April 20.

‘We are very encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by the Nepalis living in Canada,’ says Amrit Gurung, the leader and lead singer of the band.

Amrit will be assisted by Dhruv Lama on the drumset, Subin Shakya on the bass guitar, Neeraj Gurung on the guitar, Shanti Rayamazhi on the Madal and Dineshraj Regmi on the keyboard as always.
