Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has fired Attorney General Pam Bondi. Bondi will be replaced by his former Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch.

Bondi has long been a close ally and staunch supporter of the Trump administration. She is the second top official to be fired by the Trump administration. Homeland Security chief Kristy Nome was fired earlier in March.

After being relieved of her post, Bondi said that it was the ‘greatest honor of her life’ to play the role of Attorney General and now she will hand over her responsibilities to Blanch. In addition, he said that he will continue to work in favor of the Trump administration in the private sector as well.

The Defense Minister demanded the resignation of the Army Chief

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing war with Iran, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Randy George to resign.

Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, has informed through social media that George is going to retire as the 41st Chief of Staff of the US Army.

In the news published in the BBC, it is mentioned that the reason for the resignation of George has not been revealed.

Quoting an unnamed senior officer of the Defense Department in the news, it is said, ‘We are grateful for Jajarn’s service. However, now the time has come for a change of leadership in the army.’

After the resignation of George, now Army Vice Chief of Staff General Christopher La-Nave will become acting Army Chief of Staff, according to the news reported by the American media.

The tenure of the US Army Chief is four years. George studied at West Point Military Academy. He was appointed Army Chief of Staff by former President Joe Biden in 2023.

George previously served in the Gulf War and later in the conflicts with Iraq and Afghanistan.
