28 March, Kathmandu. Gaurishankar Super League U-17 cricket tournament has started under the organization of Gaurishankar Cricket Academy. The opening ceremony of this tournament, which was organized with the aim of providing an important opportunity for young players to showcase their talent, was held in a special manner.

Vishwas Karki, chairman of Gourishankar rural municipality and former forest and environment minister Vishal Khadka were present as chief guests in the opening ceremony. Similarly, CAN spokesperson Chumbi Lama, former player and coach Raju Basnyat, and District Sports Development Committee representative Ashish Ghising were present as special guests.

Speaking at the event, the chief guest Biswas Karki said that organizing such tournaments targeting the young generation by Gauri Shankar Cricket Academy is highly commendable. He expressed his belief that such competitions will help to expose new talents.

Similarly, former Forest and Environment Minister Vishal Khadka praised the organizing team and expressed the opinion that such initiatives are very necessary to encourage the youth who are interested in cricket. He also mentioned that sports play an important role in developing discipline and leadership skills.

The special guests also wished the success of the tournament and advised the young players to maintain hard work, perseverance and sportsmanship.

Two exciting matches were also completed on the opening day itself. In the first match, Jorpati Cricket Academy started victoriously by defeating Gaurishankar Cricket Academy by 9 runs. Similarly, in the second match, Nexus Cricket Academy won an impressive 30-run victory over CEC Kathmandu.

Eighteen teams will participate in this tournament and it is expected that the tournament will contribute significantly to the development of cricket at the local level.
