Only 61.8 percent of the cultivated land has reached irrigation facilities. She informed that irrigation facility has reached 26 thousand 308 hectares of the cultivated land.

According to the Irrigation Division Office, Chitwan, the irrigated area has increased this year compared to last year. According to the statistics of the office, until the last financial year, there were 22 thousand 630 hectares of irrigation facilities, but this year there has been an increase in the area.

The irrigated area decreased when the canal was built

The area of ​​arable land in Bharatpur and West region has decreased due to Narayani lift and drought irrigation. The irrigated area decreased when the canals were closed.

According to Narayani Lift, Khageri Irrigation Management Office, the area irrigated by this project has decreased by 38 percent. Chief of the office, Kulprasad Chalise, informed that the area of ​​irrigation has decreased, mainly because most of the branches of the canal system of the Narayani Lift Irrigation System have been closed.

According to him, branch canals from C1 to C5 of this canal have been washed. Which belongs to Ward No. 10, 11 and 12 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City. He said, ‘mainly the branch canals that provide irrigation in various places through the bypass area have been blocked.’

Although Narayani lift can irrigate an area of ​​4 thousand 700 hectares, currently it is being irrigated in 2 thousand 906.5 hectares. He said that the irrigated area has decreased by one thousand 793.5 hectares.

He informed that the irrigated area has decreased due to the construction of roads, physical infrastructure and parks in the area where the canal flows. He informed that when the canal was closed, along with the problem of irrigation, the beauty of the city became a problem.

The chairman of Narayani Lift Irrigation System Purna Bahadur Ranabhat argued that the irrigated area has decreased since the farmers stopped farming and started building roads on the canal.
