25 March, Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress has sought clarity on four points before sending members to the working group formed by the government to prepare the discussion paper for the amendment of the constitution. Acting Chief Secretary of the Congress Central Office, Krishna Prasad Dulal, sent a letter to the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on behalf of the party on Wednesday, seeking clarity from the government with four points.

However, the Congress has welcomed the fact that the debate on the amendment of the constitution has been started on behalf of the government and that it has written to itself for the debate. The Congress is also of the opinion that it is a natural democratic process to amend, modify and update the Constitution in accordance with the sentiments and needs of the citizens when it has been 10 years since its promulgation.

“However, before nominating a representative on behalf of the Nepali Congress in this working group, it is necessary to be clear on some issues including the working group’s method, scope and content,” the letter said, “this clarity will help the working group to perform its work and will increase clarity and adoption in terms of constitutional amendment.”

Earlier, the government had formed a working group under the leadership of Asim Shah under the Prime Minister’s Office to prepare the discussion paper for the amendment of the constitution.
