22 Chait, Pokhara. Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya has said that the land of Home Minister Sudan Gurung also falls within the 65 meter limit of Fewatal. On Saturday morning, there was a discussion between Home Minister Gurung and Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya on the day before putting dozers on the standard structures built in Khapaundi.

Mayor Acharya said that before dozering the temporary structure built within the parameters of Phewatal, Home Minister Gurung showed the map and asked where his land was.

He showed the map and said that my land is also there, see where it is. I said that it should be inside Phewa’s Talghar,’ Mayor Acharya said about the conversation with Home Minister Gurung, ‘Even though I was concerned, nothing happened. He said that if it is within the standard, everyone should go.’

According to sources, Home Minister Gurung took land in Shir Andu area of ​​Phewatal and built a tower and even started small water sports. Gurung also made a proposal for water sports in Fewa in Pokhara metropolis. However, that proposal was burnt during the Genji movement and when it was called again, no one came, according to metropolitan sources.

“During the discussion with the Minister of Home Affairs today, he showed me the map and said where does this land belong. I said that it is within the standard and he said that it is okay,’ Acharya told Online News, ‘There is nothing more to say about this matter than here.’

It was already discussed that Gurung land is within the parameters of Fewatal. However, it is not clear whether it is in his own name or in the name of his family or company. According to the District Land Revenue Office, work is being done to identify the land within the criteria, but it has not yet been identified in the name of Sudan. It has not been revealed how much land he has on the bank of Fewa.

Even though Home Minister Gurung had come to Pokhara after the Genji movement to pay his respects, he had said that his land was on the banks of Fewa, and he had revealed that he wanted to advance the project for water sports in Fewa. However, he did not disclose where his land is and what his plans are.

After the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah included the issue of protection of Phewa Lake in the 100 agenda, now a wave has been created, and after dozers were installed on 32 towers in Khapaundi area early on Saturday morning, the issue of standards has become a topic of discussion not only in Pokhara, but in the entire country.

The locals, whose land and structures are within the standard of Fewatal, are protesting that the government has used dozers without informing them, and that the standard land has been treated as if the lake had been washed away. Even on Sunday, the affected people of Fewakinar submitted a memorandum to the district administration office from Kaski to Pokhara metropolis and objected to the government’s move. Locals have demanded that it be resolved only by arranging compensation for the locals.

Locals are protesting saying that the Home Minister’s order came from the base itself to demolish the structure. On Saturday morning, a dozer was driven into the Park Village water front resort Prangad and the swimming pool of tourism businessman Karna Shakya. According to the verdict of the Supreme Court, it has ordered to remove the structures including the swimming pool on the water front as they are within the standards.

On Saturday, the Pokhara metropolis has issued a notice to use a dozer to remove the structure itself within 15 days. However, the locals are demanding to remove the structure only by giving a clear master plan and alternative.

The construction was being added ignoring the repeated requests made by the Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality to not build structures within the standards of Fewatal and to remove the built structures. The Pokhara metropolis also tries to remove structures every year, use dozers on 1-2 houses, but the trend of adding more structures is repeating on the Phewa bank.

It is stated in the 76th point of the 100 work list that ‘removal of encroachment and restoration of Phewa protected watershed area in Pokhara, landslide management, spring protection and climate change adaptation works will be carried out within three months with the participation of stakeholders.

Prime Minister Balendra made a telephone contact with Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya on the day after the 100 work list was published to understand the status of implementation of the standards. Mayor Acharya said that the work of identifying the contaminated land is going on and the technical team is still working.

Mayor Acharya reported that Talghar was separated and 1,555 pillars were buried to maintain 65 meters based on the high point of water flow as per the Supreme Court decision. Mayor Acharya was asked by the Prime Minister to work in coordination with the Tourism Minister regarding Phewatal.

Tourism Minister is Khadak (Ganes) Paudel from Pokhara. The current government has failed to maintain the standards of Phewatal and now a powerful government has come, so Pokhara is becoming turbulent. It has created a commotion among those who have land within the standard, have built structures, and are doing illegal work under the guise of power and power from Fewatal.

The Supreme Court had ordered on 4 June 2080 that the standard of Fewatal should be maintained at 65 meters. On the 16th of Chait 2078, the 15th executive committee meeting of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality reduced the standard of Fewatal from 65 to 30. Advocate Khagendra Subedi and others filed a writ in the Supreme Court for the second time against this decision made by Mayor Man Bahadur Ji at the end of his tenure.

On 4 June 2080, the bench of Judges Kumar Regmi and Hariprasad Phuyal ordered the removal of structures within the standards within 6 months and ordered that the 65-meter intermediate area be fully declared as a green area.

It was said that there was no dispute regarding the compensation of the land of Fewatal from the year 2018 to the year 2031, and if it was, the land of the lake should be considered to be settled at the same time and it was said that the deal should be done in the name of Fewatal as it is the government land of the Nepal government.

In the judgment, it was said that compensation should be given according to the law only in the case of the lake and the land outside of the lake deal that has been in place from 2018 to 2031. This means that after the year 2031, it was also asked to deduct the cost of the contaminated land within the 65 meter standard of Fewatal. According to Acharya, the mayor of Pokhara, the same contaminated land is currently being identified.
