US President Donald Trump has announced that he will end the Iran war within two to three weeks.
In a conversation with reporters at the White House on Tuesday, President Trump said that the ongoing war will not last much longer.
‘We’ll be out soon. “Probably within two weeks, maybe two or three weeks,” he said.
Trump also said that an agreement with Iran is not a necessary condition for ending the war. The US attacked Iran on February 28th together with Israel. The US has named the military action against Iran as ‘Operation Epic Fury’.
‘Diplomatic agreement is not necessary to end Operation Epic Fury. “Iran doesn’t even have to make a deal with us,” Trump told reporters.
Trump also said that regime change in Iran is not America’s goal. Before and after the start of the war, Trump had said that the US wanted a regime change in Iran.
During the protests in Iran, Trump repeatedly called on the people there to fight against the Iranian government and expressed the commitment of the United States to help.
Even after the attack on Iran, he addressed the people there and called to take power.
Contrary to Trump’s claim that he would bring Iran to its knees in a few days, after the war dragged on for more than a month, he said that the change of power in Iran was not America’s desire.
Regime change was not our goal. The goal was the same – Iran would no longer have nuclear weapons. We have achieved our goal. They will no longer have nuclear weapons. We’re getting that done,’ Trump said.
Trump also sounded positive about the talks.
‘We have a very diverse group of people. They are also practical,’ he said.
Pakistan, Egypt and other countries are talking to both sides to end the Iran war.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Vaughan talks were continuing and going strong. He also warned that the US is ready to continue the war if Iran does not accept the US proposal.
“Our options are increasing, Iran’s options are decreasing, the next few days will be decisive,” he said.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi has admitted that messages are being exchanged through US special envoy Steve Witkoff. However, he said that it cannot be called a formal negotiation. He also said that those messages only contain threats and his own opinion.
